Assessment WWII: (HELD 5/24 DURING CLASS) The assessment for WWII is a socratic seminar, where you will argue a position on 1 of 5 different positions regarding the dropping of the bomb; should you, as the government:
Without warning, drop an atomic bomb on a Japanese city as soon as possible
Drop the bomb on an unpopulated area to demonstrate its destructive capabilities
Warn the Japanese that the US possesses atomic weapons and is willing to use them if they don't surrender by a specific time. Drop the bomb if they don't surrender.
Reject the use of atomic weapons, and continue the naval blockade and conventional bombing.Invade if the strategy does not produce a Japanese surrender.
Reject the use of atomic weapons and negotiate a treaty to the end of the war, allowing the Japanese to surrender with their emperor as a part of their post-war government.
